Smoke has covered much of Santa Cruz, and a local fire in Boulder Creek added to the uneasiness of the area. Yet weekend coastal life went on as if nothing has changed.
So it goes, if you are a safe distance from a disaster. I am thinking twice about where I finally locate myself, and learning all escape routes from Bonny Doon. Bring on the rains please.

The combination of smoke and haze made for a bad photo day. So I stylized these shots a bit, to capture the vividness which the bad air zapped out (or a bad photographer simply failed).

Hopping through the tidal pools, at low tide, has got to be one of my favorite things to do on a sunny day.

If I were a geologist exploring this coast, I would totally freak out.
