While the Midwest enters the deep-freeze of the decade, here in the coastal Santa Cruz Mountains, spring is showing its start. Green. The rains will come and go, but the worst of this season is about over.
About 6 p.m. the crew lines up for dinner, and the weather is fair enough to eat on the deck. The sun just set.
I, well, I eat too much. So, I more than not, leave before dinner is served. But tonight, a special project needed some endgame attention and I stayed until it was complete – and had dinner to boot.
Two pastas, a spicy halibut and a hearty veggie-laden salad with some hot garlic bread made the meal. I took small portions.
After scrubbing off my plate, I headed back to my car and I took this shot – thinking I wish I was on the coast below. Nope – this was the perfect spot.
