All those provisions I ordered from Amazon Pantry in a panic likely are no longer needed, at least as things are looking today. To reduce my canned-good inventory, here’s my attempt to make instant chili, something I have not tried since a kid on my own.

Also, I am giving up on preservative-laden store-brought bread. So, I brought an inexpensive bread maker. Fresh whole wheat bread in about 2 hours.

After browning the meat, all one does is throw in the seasoning, canned tomatoes, and beans. I added the corn at whim. Simmer for an hour and eat with a sprinkle of cheese, hot buttered bread, and a splash of wine.

The galley in my sprinter van will certainly have a space for the bread maker. And one-pot cooking on the road seems a good idea.
