I-70 in Pennsylvania Downpour – not a good night for those in this accident
After a 6:00 a.m. planned departure I finally hit the road at 12:45 p.m., opting to clean the house before I left as to come home to such over the not-to-distant Thanksgiving holiday.
As expected, the 325xi performed flawlessly with all the extra weight and a big black brick on top of it. I was cautious to and through the beltway and even north on I-270.
Both Goggle Maps and my GPS wanted me to head north to I-80. No thanks, even though that is the fastest route. After leaving I-270 I veered off to I-68 (as I always do) and headed over the Appalachians, through Morganstown, West Virginia, and then up to PA to I-70. Bands of thunderstorms and even hail pelted my vehicle for much of the journey.
There was a horrible accident on I-70 that stalled westbound traffic for 45 minutes. I just searched for a hotel during the delay and opted for Zansville, Ohio for a 9:00 p.m. arrival.
Geez – first day of travel and I only made 430 miles. A good meal and a good night’s sleep and I will be on the road at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow. A long road ahead, but I am alive and excited!
