Big Country – somewhere in Wyoming on I-80, where the road seems endless, or drops off the end of the world!
I got to the Hilton Garden Inn in Salt Lake City after everything had closed in terms of eating last night. This is an odd area where all the airport hotels are located, but with very few eating options after dark. I’ve been here a handful of times and still don’t understand it, but this is SLC.
The FBI regional headquarters is located down the road. One has to wonder what they do here in the heart of the Mormon Empire?
Fortunately the hotel chef pre-made a few salads and deli sandwiches, which one of each were perfect with the remaining half bottle of wine I transported from Sacramento.
Today, it was 748 miles from hotel to hotel, crossing the entire state of Wyoming. As with most western states, the western half of that state is by far the most interesting. I wanted to stop a dozens times for photos, but as I got a late start, I just kept on driving.
This drive was a bit more tetious than yesterday – and it gets worst as the journey continues. I’m checked in to the Fairfield Inn in Kearney, NE. Too bad I can’t visit my buddy Phil who lives somewhere close.
Tomorrow I head to my last stop before arriving home – Plainfield, Indiana – wherever the hell that is (hint – it’s near the Indianapolis Airport).
Goodnight!
