Arriving home, I treated myself, after all the agony, to a rare B.R. Cohn 2005 Syrcab – it wasn’t cheap!
My morning, again, began at 5:oo a.m. in Philadelphia. I had managed to pack almost all of my remaining stuff into the SUV the night before. But the expensive memory foam mattress did not fit. So last evening I walked over to the local Home Depot and picked up some straps to mount the mattress on the roof of the SUV.
After I awoke to a cup and a half of coffee, it was a simple matter to strap the mattress on the roof and hit the road. No rain was in the forecast from Philly to Piney Point, so the plan worked well. It was a relaxing drive, and likely the last time that I will travel from Philadelphia to Piney Point. I can’t say I will miss it!
A few miles from home, I stopped briefly on Piney Point Road at Infinity Ranch. The summer country air was sweet and complex. Generally I walk slowly to the fence so as not to startle the horses. This time I ran up and spooked them, and they all took flight. A horse in motion is a bit more exciting that one chomping on grass.
Infinity Ranch, Piney Point Road – It worked!
After retrieving four weeks of mail from the post office, the stress of the move dissipated. My entire body ached from loading a bed and a dozen boxes from my comfortable 2nd floor apartment.
Upon arriving home, I took an ever-so-brief nap before unloading the over-stuffed SUV. I had little to do today and Sunday, except to organize the house to handle all the crap I brought back from Philly. This is nothing new – moving back from Vermont, Connecticut, West Virgina and Florida all have left my house with too much stuff.
By sunset I was content to prepare a simple feast, and then stream a Netflix movie. I pan-fried Halibut encrusted with pecans, adding a whole wheat pasta with Shiitake mushrooms and red pepper, with veggies and berries. The exceptional wine was well worth its price. I dined outside on my screened porch, thinking the only thing missing was my Korean sweetheart.
A plateful of goodness – Pecan encrusted halibut, whole wheat crab & cheese tortellini with Shiitake mushrooms, fresh tomato, red pepper and a side of steamed veggies and fresh berries.
As always, I took in the sunset from my pier jutting out on the mighty Potomac. A stiff cool breeze came off the river. As I write, the fireflies are out tonight in great numbers. I could sleep on the porch tonight, if not for the bullfrogs intent on finding mates. Best just sleep in my comfortable bed. Ah – life is good in Piney Point.
Tomorrow it is back to Tampa and then beyond to California. Likely summer will pass before I return home.
