The Most Intense Storm that I Recall!
With devastating fires raging in Colorado and a super-storm ripping its way through the Mid-Atlantic, it easy to under-estimate the power of nature. The news cycle has already forgotten the deadly tornadoes that occurred a few weeks back, and the hurricane season has hardly begun.
I lost power for less than an hour and I was mildly annoyed as I did not even know that this storm was coming. I expected to be in the dark all night, but by 7:00 p.m. I was cooking dinner and watching TV – as if nothing had happened.
A half million still do not have it, and of course hundreds in Colorado have lost everything. Yet for most life just goes on. I think we all take the normalcy in our lives far too much for granted. I’m going to test run the generator today and stock up on non-perishable foods, as my kitchen is near empty since my return.
I think it is wise to wake up every morning and appreciate the simple pleasures of an average day. I’m taking the bike out for a brisk ten mile ride!
Oh, here’s the link to the large interactive US radar map where I captured the graphic above: Cool Interactive Map.
