The remnants of Hurricane Florence meandered through here today with nothing more than a gentle rain and a much-needed stiff breeze. I disdain this horrific East Coast humidity which the locals simply accept as normal. I can’t wait to rid myself of it for the salt air of the magnificent Pacific.
I missed the funeral of my Aunt Adeline today, the last remaining Smith of that generation. There are a thousand memories remaining of her family and her elder sister (my mom), as we lived a mere block and a half away during most of my childhood. My sister, thankfully, was able to attend.
Will I miss this place on the mighty Potomac, my mostly vacant home-base since 2002? Likely after I depart.
Now, I just want to leave. First stop Indianapolis. I can’t wait to get back to Coastal California.
