I flew comfortably from DC Regan National to Salt Lake City on an antiquated Delta Boeing 757 – fortunately in first class. Amazing how far behind the US Airlines (and airports) are compared to about anything international.
I sat next to an anesthesiologist from Jackson Hole, Wyoming who was visiting his daughter in DC. She didn’t want to come home for spring break because she was going to the Caribbean with her boyfriend (a bit too privileged for my taste).
He (younger than me) was forced to retire because of Parkinson’s disease. For me, it was just another slice-of-life encounter to fully appreciate that nothing in life can be taken for granted.
Off to Sacramento in an hour. Then a short drive to the hotel with no wakeup call tomorrow!
