Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church in the center of the city is overwhelmed with the graves of really old dead people! It’s the “first church in the first town in the first state”.
As promised, I detoured to Lewes, Delaware on my way back to Philadelphia. Much of Delaware is just farmland, but when your reach the coastal area everything changes. It’s an odd little state with much wealth, but also with a lot of folks just surviving as we all do.
I swear, I came a day late for the tulip festival, but seemed to miss where all the tulips actually were. I did find a few. This is a charming little old town, unlike Rehoboth Beach, which in my view is a gawd-awful tourist trap.
Well Holland it is not!
I did make an attempt to stop at the now world famous Dogfish Brew Pub in Rehoboth Beach. Already in April the tourists took over, and it was a 40 minute wait for a table. Oh well, at least I got a glimpse inside. Likely over-rated, but I’ll be back someday.
