I am repackaging all the things saved from my mother’s home in the event I must move in short notice (I also have to the quest to head west). I came across a typed letter which was odd, as it was mailed in 1910.
I typed the address of my grandfather’s home in Superior, Wisconsin in Google Earth, and, sure enough, it is still there. The screen shot attached is from the street view. Likely the Jimmy Johns off to the right was not there when grandpa occupied the house.
I have three boxes of thousands of photos, letters and documents that can only be described as a gold mine. As time allows, it will be fun to scan them and place them somewhere in cyberspace to live on forever.
Apparently, grandpa had longing to head to Wyoming, likely before he got married and was still a logger. For reasons unknown, he did not – and that is likely a good thing for all my cousins and me, as if he did we’d not exist.
