My Windows 10 Upgrade Disaster

Here’s what my previous post first looked like in WordPress using Microsoft’s new browser Edge

The Windows 10 Help Forums from around the world are slowing being inundated with cries for help and fixes after upgrading to a generally well received new version – ultra slow booting and overall slow performance – defective patches – web pages that load oddly or not at all – software (or apps as software is now called) that don’t work – black screens of death (not blue) and general chaos!

I experienced all of the above after upgrading from a fast (but vintage 2013) Windows 7 Toshiba laptop. After removing bloatware, tweaking settings and contemplating throwing my trusty laptop through the window, I reverted back to Windows 7. Microsoft’s new web browser was a total wreak, especially using WordPress (see photo) and banking websites.

The whole day was wasted, but at least I got a glimpse of the new operating system. It certainly is a winner over the dreaded 8.1, but not at all ready for all hardware platforms.

I will eventually (as in a few months) upgrade my HP Windows 8.1 Workstation, simply to rid myself of Windows 8.1. But my old laptop will likely be retired as a Window 7 machine.
