This lot must have mistaken my camera for a shotgun – clearly more intimidated by my presence, although out-numbering me 10,000 to 1! Now – who put the danm cell tower in the middle of nowhere ruining the shot?
Hitchcock’s iconic 1963 thriller scared the crap out of me when I first saw it, not even in the movie theater, but on a black & white TV. Today it would likely merit a yawn, as not one alien satanic cyborg enters a scene – or did I miss something?
Here, at my undisclosed location in the middle of nowhere the Sandhill Crane Migrations attracts bird nuts annually from around the world. The bird season peaked a week or so ago, but there are still a few hundred thousand pecking around in the corn fields.
Pecking order? What pecking order? One of these dudes just can flap his wings faster!
Even so, I was denied entrance to the Audubon’s Crane Festival because I lacked a reservation, even though the party ended a week ago.
So be it – poor planning on my part as this event was not expectantly in my plan. So I was limited to a few shots in the corn fields, which these cranes seem to love. My only question is, if this migration has been occurring for thousands of years, what did these noisy guys eat before the farmers arrived?
Interesting climate here – snow on Friday, thunderstorms today, and 79 degrees F midweek! It should be an entertaining pit stop to California!
