I don’t have a grasp of the world of small airplanes, as I spent most of my time working on really big ones. But given there are thousands of small airports scattered all over the globe, there’s a lot of folks that fly them.
The hanger next to my client has a few jets and airplanes for charter, and mostly they just sit there. But often enough rich folks come and are loaded up on whatever aircraft suits their needs, and fly off.
Why these exotics show up is anyone’s guess – but they do. I generally have to snap a shot in stealth, as rich folks don’t want their toys photographed. But given I am on public property and there is a First Amendment granting free expression, I have the clear right to my photos.
So here we have the HondaJet, in development for about 20 years, the Starship, being the first carbon fiber aircraft ever certified to Part 23 (and a total failure with only nine flying), and a sexy Italian Piaggio Avanti, which actually has had some success.
Of course the HondaJet, in spite of its long gestation, may become as common as an Accord.
