Who’d a thunk there’s actually a river that runs through Tampa?
Well actually roasting. I arrived in Tampa Bay one week ago today. The first week with my client flew by. Now my client’s customer is arriving from Europe and guess who will be holding their hand? No worries as I worked the weekend to prepare.
I’ve got one week to go living out of a hotel. I found a temporary apartment in Tampa from a grad student needing to head home for a few weeks. Perfect as I am reluctant to sign a lease here in Tampa, as I think I will be needed in California sooner than later.
Since the housing bubble burst, everything here looks the same – as if frozen in time for five years. Even the panhandlers look familiar!

As expected the summer rains arrived at the same time I did. We had one hell of a thunder storm this morning, and I managed to sleep through the ones from the previous evenings. The hurricane seasons have been tame since I left – a good sign that they will return now that I am back.
It’s not bad being here, working with familiar folks and knowing how to get around and where to shop and eat. Of course the heat, humidity and bugs will get to me in time.

This is a strange state, but I knew what I was getting into. Lot’s of work ahead but a comfortable temporary home with a nice pool and fitness center makes for an easy transition. I’ll likely spend the 4th of July here, but still need to move out of my apartment in Philly some time soon.
