Women Finals – Oyster Shucking USA!
Well, I made it home basically to finally get the 325xi repaired and all fixed up to make it look like new. Way back when in California, after a year in storage, I backed it out with a dead battery and all and crunched the front door, like a fool. Now we are gettin’ her fixed.
Meanwhile the St. Mary’s County Oyster Festival was happening, which happens to be a national event – for oyster shucking. So what the hell, I went again for the fun and food.
My first taste – 1/2 dozen plus raw and Blue Moon Brew – just for starters!
It was a perfect October day and people came from about everywhere. I had raw, grilled and fried oysters, later with a few shooters, stewed and steamed. I really can’t think of a more perfect local event that happens to be national.
The 2013 national champ – a regular guy with two cute kids – off to Ireland for the International Finals
The winner was from New England – a pro that makes his living from this. He is off to Ireland for the world championship. Given he appeared to be a great dad as well, I wish him luck!
And then the drive home – near perfect day on the mighty Potomac!
It’s the local events, that sometime become national, that make America great! Now if we could just purge ourselves of all the politicians that make it not so great, there is hope! Well, we will never rid ourselves of those bastards, but there is always hope anyway!
