End of a totally relaxing day in El Dorado Hills, CA
I put in marathon 12 hour day on Friday to play catch-up from my time away – granted I did all the work from my house. Today I had big plans to clean-up and organize the house (I had two mini-tornadoes ravage the place – age 3 and 5). Yet I awoke with a sense of overwhelming laziness to a perfect day up here in the hills.
I began again my healthy breakfast routine of oatmeal with fresh berries and pecans and had a second cup of strong black coffee on the deck overlooking the pool. I opted then to clean the pool (which I find therapeutic) and lost all my ambition from that time forward.
I swam and lounged about the yard for most of the day, not bothering to put any clothes on! That’s one of the small joys of not only having a pool, but having it secluded from all the neighbors. By noon I popped open a bottle of 90 minute IPA and threw together some leftovers for lunch. It was simply wonderful to do nothing and think about less.
Tonight I will do about much of the same – grill some Ahi Tuna and veggies and watch a movie of my choosing for the first time in weeks (and it won’t be Sponge Bob Square Pants).
Really tomorrow I should finalize the house – setup the AV system, attach the external hard drives to the router, clean the carbon dust off my car wheels and a host of other things. But we shall see – perhaps a repeat of today is in order.
On Monday the marthon continues nonstop until the Thanksgiving holiday. It will get rapidly intense as we gear up two major aerospace programs. I am so glad that I found my comfortable refuge up here. I sensed before I arrived that such a place was needed to survive this madness called “work.”
