When in Omaha, if you can’t meet Buffet, eat Beef

So, I summoned Google Maps on my iPhone and instructed it to guide me from Sheboygan back to my client in the undisclosed location in the middle of nowhere. It proved to be an eleven hour drive.

As it was only eight hours to drive to Omaha, I chose to spend the night in Old Market and have a good meal.

After heading west to Fond du Lac, I veered southwest on Highway 151 – through vaguely familiar turf – crazy Madison, wonderful Baraboo and the Wisconsin Dells. I could spend a week at each of these places and more. But I continue on (like I have a choice).

Highway 151 drops one from Wisconsin into Dubuque, Iowa – after a too soon crossing the mighty Mississippi River. Then, the drive becomes predictable – Iowa corn and cattle. I managed to get through the state with only one close call of a speeding ticket.

Finally Counsil Bluffs and then crossing the Missouri River into Omaha. I was checked into my hotel well before sunset. Then steak dinner at Spencer’s and a very good night’s sleep.

The last leg of the trip was a breeze. Surprisingly the weather is perfect! Now it’s time to focus on the business (and recovering from all the good food).

Sheboygan – Part 2 – coming.
